Our 2014 National Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation was held in Reston, VA, just a few miles outside Washington DC.
Reserve Your Room Today
The conference took place at the lovely Hyatt Regency Reston — a cozy 4-Diamond hotel in the heart of Reston Town Center. The address for the Hyatt is 1800 Presidents St, Reston, VA 20190, and the hotel’s phone number is 703-709-1234.
Our $124/night group rate expired on September 30th, and the hotel honored it for almost a week after that. At this point, though, we’ve almost filled up the hotel and they can no longer honor our group rate for new reservations. You need to use the regular reservation system at www.reston.hyatt.com to reserve a room.
You can also call 888-421-1442 if you prefer to make your reservations over the phone.
The Hyatt is in a fun location, with more than 50 shops, 30 restaurants, and a 13-screen movie theatre right outside the door. The hotel has an indoor pool, the largest fitness center we’ve seen in a hotel, and nice walking trails around the corner — so pack accordingly.
Fly Into Dulles International Airport
You’ll want to fly into Dulles International Airport (IAD) if at all possible, as the hotel offers a free shuttle from Dulles.
On Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, the hotel shuttle drops off and picks up at Dulles (on curbs 2A and 2H) on the hour, every hour, between 7am and 10pm. It leaves the hotel 15 minutes before that, at 6:45am, 7:45am, etc. through 9:45pm. On Tuesdays through Fridays, the shuttle trips begin one hour earlier, at 5:45 am, but otherwise the schedule is the same.
Feel free to call the Hyatt Regency Reston and talk to their concierge if you have other travel-related questions. The hotel’s website is at www.reston.hyatt.com, and the phone number is 703-709-1234.
Drive or Take the Metro if You’re Local
The Hyatt Regency Reston is located at 1800 Presidents St, Reston, VA 20190, and the hotel’s phone number is 703-709-1234. Driving directions can be found on the hotel website here, and parking details can be found here.
The closest metro stop to the hotel is the Wiehle-Reston East stop (Silver Line), which is 1.6 miles from the hotel. You can take the Silver Line to and from DC. Those needing transportation to or from the Metro station can request a complimentary shuttle from the hotel (talk to the concierge and see if the shuttle is available; the hotel’s phone number is 703-709-1234). You can also take the Fairfax Connector Bus #505, which picks up and drops off behind the hotel and at the Wiehle-Reston East metro stop for $1.75. You can download the 505 Schedule here.
If you’re driving in, you can park at the hotel for a fee. Rates are posted on the Hyatt site here, but it’s basically $14/day or less.
However, since there’s a shopping area right around the hotel, there are a couple of public parking garages with FREE daytime parking. To get to the closest one, just drive right past the hotel on Presidents Street and it’s straight ahead past the next block. (Fed Ex Kinkos is on the corner right across the street.) Note that we were told those lots are not to be used for overnight parking; you run the risk of being towed if you leave your car there overnight.
Plan Some Other Meetings
We encourage you to think about organizing meetings and activities on Thursday afternoon or evening, the night before NCDD 2014 begins. You may also want to meet up with people for breakfast on Saturday or Sunday, or for dinner or drinks on one of the evenings or after the conference closing on Sunday. Check out the conference schedule to determine what might work best for you and your colleagues.
There are lots of small meeting nooks in the hotel, as well as a nice restaurant, bar, and Panera Bread. But for larger groups or for something outside of the conference space, check out the restaurant list and map for Reston Town Center. The Hyatt is marked as K on the map — so you can see there are tons of options right by the hotel.
