About Me
An experienced educator, writer, and artist living in Vermont. Founder of an artist-run gallery and education center in Washington, DC and a former high school teacher; cut my arts educator teeth as a photography instructor for Shooting Back, the photography program started by former UPI photographer Jim Hubbard. Today, Lars is the founder and coordinator of the Global Peace Tiles Project.
NCDD Involvement
In 2004 and 2005, Lars ran a scoping study for NCDD to determine whether a National Dialogue Bureau was a feasible idea. The Dialogue Bureau, if developed, would supply journalists with a one stop destination for the collection of views held by ordinary Americans who engage in dialogue about current affairs. The Dialogue Bureau would create a network of leaders of dialogue and deliberation groups who are willing to speak with the media about the key findings and concerns of their group. The Dialogue Bureau would deepen media coverage of an issue while providing D&D leaders and D&D in general with increased publicity. NCDD is currently seeking funding to move forward on this idea.
Description
Peace Tiles is an easy to follow, dynamic process to engage people of all ages in the exploration of global issues through art, while building connections around the world. The Peace Tiles projects stimulates and supports the production and exchange of "Peace Tiles," intimate works of art that, when displayed together, create vibrant, dynamic, large-scale murals.

I'd like to
Be more involved in a network of practitioners looking to develop - and use - arts-based activities as an entry into transformative dialogues.
We wanted to create one group that every NCDD member is a part of, so we can provide a space where all members can take part in discussions here in the members network.
