National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation

NCDD formed in 2002 after 60 leaders and 50 organizations collaborated to produce the first National Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation. The conference brought together practitioners and scholars from across the spectrum of D&D practice for the first time, and NCDD’s members are committed to continuing to foster collaboration and build understanding and cohesion in the D&D community. As of May 2014, NCDD has grown to 2,100 members, and has held 5 national conferences and numerous regional events with a total of more than 2,500 attendees. Orange_Logo_LoResNCDD is now an active U.S.-based network of 2,100 organizations and individuals who bring people together across divides to discuss, decide, and act together on today’s toughest challenges. NCDD serves as a gathering place, a resource center, a news source, and a facilitative leader for an active community of practice centered around the practices of dialogue and deliberation. Our online Resource Center at www.ncdd.org/rc connects people to nearly 3,000 resources on group process and public engagement, and more than 33,000 people are subscribed to our monthly email updates.

Our biennial national conferences are well-loved, high-energy events that bring together those who are committed to finding innovative ways to convene people to address seemingly intractable problems.  A good place to learn about NCDD’s latest projects and partnerships is at www.ncdd.org/tag/ncdd_projects.  Check out the member map at www.ncdd.org/map to get a sense of who’s in the network, and please join us at www.ncdd.org/join if you’re not already involved.
