This 56-page guidebook
from the Canadian Policy Research Networks
(2000) is based on the lessons learned from The Society We Want, a national public dialogue project of the Canadian Policy Research Networks. It provides a comprehensive step-by-step guide to the public dialogue process, outlines how the materials to support public dialogue are developed, and anchors public dialogue in a clear research methodology and analysis plan.
Part 1 of this manual is intended for government managers (referred to as coordinators) who will be planning or coordinating a public dialogue group/process. Part 2 is intended for moderators engaged to run public dialogue groups. Part 3 is comprised of appendices that expand on information in Parts 1 and 2.
