International Civic Engagement blog

The International Civic Engagement blog highlights initiatives from across the globe that improve civic engagement. The blog reflects the philosophy of its publisher, Erik Bergrud, that much can be learned not only within developed countries but also within the developing world. Bergrud, who plays an active role in the United Nations Online Network in Public Administration and Finance (UNPAN) and edits UNPAN's newsletter, posts a significant number of entries on the work of UN agencies and on how institutions of higher education have embraced civic engagement. The blog also reflects Bergrud's interest in e-government and online citizen participation.

Also visit the website of the International Center for Civic Engagement at Park University, at www.park.edu/icce/index.aspx.  The Center was established to advance the University's global mission, establish linkages with international efforts across campus, and provide innovative educational opportunities for learners within the global society, while establishing an outlet for channeling community outreach efforts in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Placed within the Hauptmann School for Public Affairs (HSPA), the Center builds on the historic vision of HSPA to serve the common good by graduating leaders who exercise authority responsibly, make ethical decisions, act with moral courage, and advance human dignity world-wide.
