Dialogue: A Virtual Workshop

PCP LogoThe Public Conversations Project (an NCDD organizational member) just released their first video resource. Dialogue: A Virtual Workshop is a FREE series of 12 videos that shares the basics of the Public Conversations Project’s approach to dialogue.  From understanding the importance of participant preparation to developing the right questions to ask in a dialogue, this series illustrates PCP’s approach—and the principles behind it—via an in-depth resource that combines videos, guides, and interactive links.

Check it out at www.publicconversations.org/video-series/virtualworkshop/sec1.

Each of the 12 sections features:

  • A short (2- to 10-minute) video “how to”
  • A set of summaries, exercises and discussion questions to make it a more effective teaching tool
  • Multiple references that expand upon and/or enrich the main content:  links to Web pages, PDFs, citations for articles or books
  • Special video interviews with each of PCP’s founders (found in five of the twelve sections)

I also noticed and appreciate how PCP included this text on the intro page to the virtual workshop series:

This video series is based on the Public Conversations Project’s approach to dialogue. PCP is part of a larger community of practice that includes many other valuable approaches to dialogue, deliberation and citizen engagement. To learn about the models of our colleagues, please visit the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation.

The series is designed to allow practitioners to have a more in-depth experience, while a novice user can easily grasp the key content and explore concepts as much or as little as they like (or need.)   With support from the JAMS Foundation, PCP is offering the series—both videos and guide text—for free download.
