Building a D&D Community of Practice in Chicago

Happy Thanksgiving to all our U.S. members!

I wanted to let you know about an event I’m going to be speaking at in Chicago in a couple of weeks, and to invite those of you in the region to attend. Convened by the Institute for Policy and Civic Engagement (IPCE) at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the 3-hour meeting will focus on the university’s role in broadening and deepening dialogue and deliberation on public issues in the Chicago area, and in nurturing an informal community of practice for D&D practitioners in Chicago.

The event will take place on December 5th from 11am to 2pm, and you can RSVP here if you plan to join us. More details on the event are below. NCDD members in the area can also join me and IPCE leaders for a networking dinner on the 4th (just email me at sandy@ncdd.org to let me know you’re coming).

IPCE has done a considerable amount of research to find out what the region’s existing capacity and civic infrastructure looks like, and they’d like to see formal and informal local leaders in D&D, public engagement and community problem solving come together on the 5th to think together about how best to move forward.

Learn more about the event at at this link, or rsvp at https://illinois.edu/sb/sec/740563.
