Redesigning Democracy Summit – Let Your Voice Be Heard!

This post was submitted by NCDD member John Coggin of the Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State University…

We find ourselves in uncharted territory in the wake of the 2012 elections and in the face of upcoming challenges, such as improving the economy and addressing the nation’s debt. Continued polarization will lead to devastating gridlock unless we work together across differences to forge consensus. The moment calls for profound and boundary-crossing leadership, not just from political figures, but from all of us.

The Redesigning Democracy Summit will gather leaders – coming from various sectors, regions and points of view – to the new Emerging Issues Commons at NC State University to plan new ways to work together, encourage greater levels of participation and move our nation ahead.

It is time to redesign democracy. And we need your voice to do it.

The Summit will be held Sunday, December 9 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. (EST) and Monday, December 10 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (EST). Only a small number of people can be in the room, but in this conversation about public participation in democracy, we want as many people as possible to be involved.

Visit www.ncsu.edu/iei/index.php/news-events/redesigning-democracy-summit to find more information about the event, answer pre-event questions, and watch a live stream of the event on Sunday night and Monday morning.
