Sneak Peek: Orton RFP coming on 18th
As posted on the NCDD Facebook page today…
On April 18, the Orton Family Foundation will release its Request for Proposals to select the next four Heart & Soul Community Planning project towns!
The Vermont-based Orton Family Foundation has been working with towns throughout New England and the Rocky Mountain West to encourage highly participatory community planning (more about Heart & Soul Community Planning). Starting on April 18th, the foundation is inviting proposals from small cities and towns committed to planning for future growth and change that preserves and enhances their community’s character—its distinctive “heart and soul” attributes.
The Foundation will select four (4) communities in New England and the northern Rocky Mountain West. Each selected community will be eligible for training, technical assistance and up to $100,000 in supporting funds over two years. Communities are expected to provide a 1:1 match through a combination of cash and in-kind resources, including a minimum $25,000 cash match.
The Orton Family Foundation offers an innovative approach to community planning with tools and techniques to identify local values, build a vision from them, and prioritize actions. They seek towns where community partners are ready to work together to significantly increase citizen involvement through this approach.
