NCDD 2010 Austin: Top Ten List of Things You Should Know

From the October 2010 NCDD workshop planning team, for all attendees:

1. The workshop will be in the Mabee Ballroom on the 3rd floor of the Ragsdale Center at St. Edward’s University. Go to the following link for a map of St. Edwards University, including buildings and parking: www.stedwards.edu/map

2. Free parking is available both in the visitors’ lot just south of the Ragdale Center or in the Parking Garage southeast of the Center. You can visit Capital Metro’s website for information on public transportation.

3. Please allow at least 20 minutes from when you arrive at St. Edwards to get from the parking area to the Mabee Ballroom. The parking garage, where you are most likely to find a space, is about a 5-minute walk from the Ragsdale Center.

4. Registration will begin by 8:15 a.m. and the event will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. You will not want to miss the beginning, so we encourage you to be in your seat by 9:00 a.m.

5. There will only be beverages served in the morning and lunch will be at approximately 12:30 p.m. so please plan accordingly. A vegetarian meal choice will be provided.

6. Attire is casual or business casual.

7. As part of the workshop design, we will be mixing attendees at tables throughout the room. When you arrive, you will receive your registration packet and name tag, which will provide you with your table assignment.

8. Click here to view the event agenda.

9. During the morning, we will be hearing from local leaders about public engagement processes they have undertaken. Attendees will be asked to select which “community example” they would like to learn about and then break into small groups (of no more than 10). We encourage you to click here to review the Community Examples list now and be thinking about which discussion you would like to join at the event.

10. We will be utilizing an audience polling process utilizing mobile phones at several points during the day. Therefore, if you have a mobile phone, we encourage you to bring it with you (and remember to charge the battery!).

We are excited about the wonderful turn out for this event, and in fact, have already had to close registration as we are at our maximum capacity. We look forward to a highly interactive day where we can all learn some new and useful information, connect (or reconnect) with people from different backgrounds, and have a lot of fun!
