admin – Welcome to NCDD! (indiv)

Hi, .  Thank you for joining the National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation as a supporting/sustaining/organizational member.

Hi, .  Thank you for joining the National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation.

It’s more important than ever that dialogue and deliberation processes, principles and practitioners are given every opportunity to flourish.  That’s what NCDD is all about, and we’re so glad you’re involved.

Please read this message over carefully and keep it for your records. A number of things are outlined below that will help you get the most out of your membership.

As a new member of NCDD, we recommend that you immediately:

1.  Participate in NCDD’s listservs, which continue to be NCDD members’ top choice when they need to connect with each other, share an announcement, or gather information or advice quickly.

Send an introductory email to the NCDD Discussion list — our most active listserv.  Introduce yourself and share a little about your work.  If you want to see some responses, consider also asking a question about something you’re struggling with in your practice or research.  Send your email to NCDD-Discussion@lists.thataway.org.

Also, look over NCDD’s other listservs at www.ncdd.org/listservs and see if there are other lists you’d like to subscribe to — especially if you opted out of the main NCDD Discussion list.

2.  Search for yourself in the members directory at www.ncdd.org/directory and the member map at www.ncdd.org/map and let me know if any changes or additions should be made to your page.  Here is the direct link to your directory page:

Use the map and directory to connect with colleagues (new or old), see who else in NCDD lives in your city and state, find NCDDers in places you’re traveling to, and more.

3.  Look over the page at www.ncdd.org/benefits, which provides more ideas to help you get the most out of your membership.

We hope you enjoy and benefit from your membership in NCDD!  Please do not hesitate to email me anytime, especially if you have any membership-related questions or need to update your contact information.

Sandy Heierbacher, NCDD’s Director, is also happy to help you with any questions you may have about getting the most out of your membership.  If you’d like to set up a “new member” phone call with Sandy, send her an email at sandy@ncdd.org and suggest a few times that work for you over the next couple of weeks.  She’d love to learn more about your work and answer any questions you have about NCDD.

Warm regards,

Joy Garman

  1. Joy – this is the new welcome message for individuals. This should be sent out asap after you have added people to the discussion list and enabled them in the members network. Note that you’ll need to do several customizations for each welcome message:

    1. Selecting the correct first line based on whether they are dues-paying or not.
    2. If they are dues-paying, keeping only the correct member type.
    3. Add their members network info to that section (username to the profile link; login; password)
