Postdoc Opp on Deliberative Democracy & Climate Change

David Kahane, the Project Director for Alberta Climate Dialogue (ABCD), a large community-university project on deliberative democracy and climate change based at the University of Alberta in Canada, has reached out to our community to announce a postdoctoral opportunity in deliberative democracy. From his message…

The project is seeking excellent candidates to apply for a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship, a highly competitive two-year, $70K/year award from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). These fellowships require that a candidate’s research align closely with Faculty and University strengths, so there is an advantage to candidates in linking with large research teams/projects like ABCD.

Our research team is highly interdisciplinary, so we would welcome candidates from diverse research backgrounds so long as their work dovetailed with our project. The Fellowship is open to Canadian and international candidates who complete doctoral degrees between November 2008 and December 2011.

The SSHRC deadline for Banting applications (with referee assessments) is November 2, 2011, but our university’s internal deadline for preliminary notice that we are putting a candidate forward is in early September. Interested candidates should therefore be in touch with me (david.kahane@ualberta.ca) at their soonest convenience.
