School for International Training Invites Applications for Peacebuilding and Conflict Transformation Programs
The Conflict Transformation Across Cultures Summer Institute (www.sit.edu/contact/institute/index.html) has opened the application process for its 2007 programs. The Summer Institute is a three-week, three-credit professional development and graduate training program in conflict transformation. It is specifically designed for field workers and managers of development and community-based organizations who serve communities in often-volatile environments. Participants in the Summer Institute will develop a full range of skills using participatory and experiential learning methods. Learning takes place both in the classroom and as participants live and socialize together in both structured and unstructured activities.
With participants representing more than 30 countries, and a wide variety of regional, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, the Summer Institute creates a multicultural learninglaboratory in which the skills and techniques learned can be immediate applied, tested, and evaluated. These include: Conflict analysis and intervention, Intercommunal dialogue, Reconciliation and forgiveness, Intercultural negotiation and mediation, Non-violent action, Peacebuilding and development, Training design Grant writing and fundraising for peace work. The program runs from May 28, 2007 to June 15, 2007 at The School For International Training (SIT) in Brattleboro, Vermont, USA. Program Tuition Cost: $1851 (Room and board is not included in tuition).
SIT also offers a Graduate Certificate Program (www.sit.edu/contact/certificate/index.html), a one-year part-time 14-credit graduate and professional development program. It is designed with two short phases of face-to-face instruction coupled with distance learning in order to accommodate the schedule of working professionals.
