CRNC Seeking Nominations for Board of Directors

Conflict Resolution Network Canada (CRNC) is seeking nominations for individuals interested in joining our Board of Directors. CRNC is a national, charitable organization dedicated to helping Canadians find better ways to deal with everyday conflicts. Established in 1984, CRNC is dedicated to providing public education about conflict resolution in order to bring about social change. CRNC has built a reputation as the pre-eminent Canadian source for information and resources on conflict resolution. Through their publication, Conflict Resolution Today, their mail-order bookstore and their lively Web site, www.crnetwork.ca, they offer current information to everyone interested in learning about conflict resolution.

Their national Board of Directors is made up of leaders from across the country who share an interest in helping Canadians in this area. At this time, they are particularly interested in nominations from the following sectors: health care; faith communities; law enforcement; education or education administration; First Nations; journalism or the news media; corporate Canada. We are also specifically seeking members with skills in accounting, financial management, and, or fundraising. The Board of Directors strivesfor regional and ethnic diversity. Bilingualism would be an asset.

CRNC follows a policy governance organizational model. Board members are expected to raise funds and expand the membership. Board members are alsoexpected to attend two meetings per year and to take an active role, providing guidance on overall development and directions for the organization and supporting its work through outreach efforts. This can beboth a challenging and stimulating experience. Please fax or e-mail your statement of interest, including a brief biography and a short statement as to how you would like to contribute to the Board, to the Nominating Committee at the CRNC offices by December 10th, 2006.
