International Conference on Peace Launches Educators' Network
Len and Libby Traubman just sent us word about a November, 2006 innovative educational gathering on Middle East peace. The Israel Palestine Center for Research and Information (IPCRI) convened the International Conference for Peace and Democracy. Meeting were 270 Israelis, Palestinians and international participants from 20 countries. There were educators, curriculum writers, encounter facilitators, peace studies teachers, camp directors, conflict resolution reseachers, human rights educators, mediators, and representatives from academia, research, governmental and community organizations from Israel, Palestine and beyond. New insights unfolded, as diverse women and men listened to each other, learned together, built new relationships and made connections of understanding between various disciplines. One outcome is an e-mail network for the International Community of Peace and Democracy Educators. If you are interested in learning more, email Gershon Baskin ( Gershon@ipcri.org ) and Hanna Siniora ( Hanna@ipcri.org ) for more information.
