Rebuilding New Orleans: Call for Skilled Facilitators on Jan. 20
Skilled facilitators, particularly people of color and Spanish speaking, are invited to volunteer for an essential role at the third and final community congress meeting of the Unified New Orleans Plan. Community Congress III will be held on January 20, 2007 in New Orleans, Atlanta, Dallas and Houston (citizens will be bused to New Orleans from Baton Rouge). Facilitators will work with small groups of ten people to deliberate about a series of questions that will be asked over the course of the day. Via laptop computers, individual tables will share the results of their conversations with the hundreds of others participating across the meeting locations. Facilitators will help New Orleanians learn what the citywide plan says about the issues they care about most and support participants to make their voice heard.
Orientations will be held onsite the evening of Friday January 19, and by phone on the evening of Thursday January 18. The Congress III will involve facilitator orientation at 9:00 AM Central Time, program runs till 4:00 PM Central Time. Facilitators must attend an important 2 hour orientation during the week of the event (1.5 hours for Community Congress 2 facilitators). Free lunch, childcare and parking will be available.
