April 15 Deadline to Apply for Peace and Conflict Resolution Program in Austria
The European University Center for Peace Studies (EPU) in Stadtschlaining, Austria teaches an intensive course for 44 students from around the world. All the courses are taught in English by leading specialists in their field from around the world, including Johan Galtung, one of the founders of the academic discipline of peace research and frequent mediator in international conflicts. The EPU program is designed to provide students with the intellectual skills to analyze conflicts and their underlying causes, with practical skills in conflict transformation and peacebuilding, and with the motivation to do everything in their capacity to help create a better world. The program is suitable for students from any discipline interested in peace and conflict resolution, young diplomats, government officials, NGO members, teachers, journalists, lawyers, social workers, officers, psychologists, and anyone interested in solving conflicts by peaceful means. A first university degree (bachelors or equivalent) is required, and preferably some professional experience. The deadline for to apply for the Fall term 2007 (30. Sept. – 22. December) is April 15. Other terms include next spring 3. February – 26. April 2008 (Apply by 15 Sep. 2007) and next Summer 2008: 1. June – 23. August (Apply by 15 Jan. 2008).
Costs are: Euro 2500 tuition + Euro 1400 room rent per trimester, plus a one-time Euro 700 fee for two thesis advisers for the Master of Arts program, or 12’400 Euro for the entire MA program. They have no full scholarships left for this year, but a few partial scholarships are available. Please indicate on the application form if you wish to apply for a scholarship.
