Women's Foundation of California Seeks Applicants for Women's Policy Institute

Here’s another good leadership training opportunity: the Women’s Foundation of California ( http://womensfoundca.org/ ) is inviting applications for the 2007-08 class of the Women’s Policy Institute. The Women’s Policy Institute provides intensive advocacy and leadership training for up to twenty-eight California women who, through their existing leadership roles, prior experience on women’s issues, and connections to the grassroots community, are poised to play a greater role in advocating for public policy that advances an agenda for women and girls.

Participants in the one-year program will attend four retreats in Sacramento, take part in weekly teleconferences, and conduct various other activities aimed at providing “learning while doing.” Each fellow will work collaboratively in a small team to develop and implement a policy-advocacy project. Areas of focus for the 2007-08 program are women’s health, economic justice, environmental health, criminal justice, and reproductive health and justice.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be an executive director, senior program staff member, or volunteer leader from an agency or program that focuses on women’s health, economic justice, environmental health, criminal justice, or reproductive health and justice. Visit the Women’s Foundation of California Web site for complete program information, application requirements, and details on upcoming informational conference calls. The deadline for applications is June 14, 2007.
