About the blogger…

Beth Offenbacker is a public involvement consultant to local and state government agencies and to the private sector at Waterford, Inc. She prepares and implements processes that meaningfully involve the public in decisions that affect them. Beth is a founding co-chair of IAP2’s Research Committee.

As of April 2007, Beth is the project director for an extensive three-year qualitative study funded by the Kettering Foundation that will answer the question, “What is the cultural context of public participation?” in seven regions of the world (Africa, Australasia, Canada, Latin America, the United States, Southeast Asia and the UK/Western Europe).

A leader and an educator, Beth has been an adjunct professor in the School of Communication at American University in Washington, DC. She has presented at international conferences, and her work has been published internationally by the Wessex Institute of Technology (U.K.). Beth is pursuing her Ph.D. in public administration at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
