Note: The Everyday Democracy blog was active until July 2009, and the archives can be viewed at www.everyday-democracy.org/en/Blog.aspx.  According to the EvDem site, “While DemocracySpace served up some of the best content in the civic engagement blogosphere, we discovered that our network prefers to hear from us in places where they’re already at online, such as Facebook and Twitter.”

Launched in September 2007, The Study Circles Resource Center’s blog is a place where community organizers and public officials can connect online to share news, views, and ideas. Those who have used Study Circles can use DemocracySpace as a place to post reports of your work, and everyone can use the blog to learn more about how people are using community engagement to create positive change? Stop here for news nuggets from across North America and around the world. (The Study Circles Resource Center is now called Everyday Democracy.)

Here are some more details about the blog from their About page:

  • Are you interested in learning how to use other online tools (YouTube, MySpace, etc.) to share news about your community? We’ll have information on that, too.
  • We’ll also have regular “water cooler” times where you can just stop by and give us a quick update of what’s happening in your community, or seek advice from others doing similar work.

DemocracySpace is a project of the Study Circles Resource Center, soon to be renamed Everyday Democracy. All community organizers, program participants, and public officials are welcome to take part. If you’d like to comment on a post, all you need to do is click on the “comments” line below the post. A window will open, and you can post your comment.

If you would like to post news, a weblink, photos, or a video to the site, contact blog administrator Julie Fanselow at jfanselow@studycircles.org for assistance.

* Study circles are large-scale, inclusive community dialogues linked to measurable, sustained change. SCRC aims to help communities create and sustain engagement and change on public issues.
