Bay Area Nonviolent Communication (BayNVC)

Bay Area Nonviolent Communication (BayNVC) was formed in January 2002 with a vision to create a world where everyone has the skills to make peace. NVC is based on the principles of nonviolence.
We directly support:

  • Leadership development by nurturing the skills and consciousness needed for social transformation
  • Diversity by supporting people from diverse backgrounds in learning NVC and bringing it to their communities;
  • Families by offering parents, youth and whole families new ways of relating and making peace;
  • Safer communities by sharing NVC with domestic violence groups, local jails and prisons, including San Quentin
  • Public outreach by offering people support and education through private sessions, classes, workshops, and retreats.

We offer events for the public such as workshops, series, intensive retreats (for individuals, couples and whole families), and practice groups; leadership development through ongoing intensive 9 or 12 month programs; trainings for organizations, more than half of them on a pro bono basis, to organizations such as churches, businesses, schools, and healthcare institutions; and support for individuals in the form of NVC-based counseling for individuals, couples and families.
